RLI contemplates working with several localities to create and install information signs about their Jewish communities.
RLI has had discussions with the Rokiškis regional government and Rokiškis Regional Museum to create information signs in the market square areas of Rokiškis, Obeliai / Abel, and Suvainiškis, and with the Zarasai Regional Museum to create an information sign in Dusetos. We also have discussed with the Rokiškis museum the possibility of installing information signs at the two previously unmarked Holocaust killing sites that Lithuania’s Department of Cultural Heritage officially recognized in the Fall of 2021. That recognition was based in large part upon the archeological research conducted in July 2018 by a team of international archeologists led by Prof. Dr. Rabbi Richard Freund at the invitation of RLI, the Rokiškis Regional Museum, and the Rokiškis regional government.
